Event Details
This side event, held during the 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), will examine the growing risks of nuclear confrontation and explore pathways toward denuclearization and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia.
The discussion will address key issues including the pursuit of a peace treaty on the Korean Peninsula, the limitations of deterrence-based security frameworks, and the role of international law and civil society in advancing disarmament.
The event will also highlight the upcoming International People’s Tribunal on the 1945 Atomic Bombings (November 13–15, 2026, Seoul), and its significance in strengthening global norms against nuclear weapons while advancing justice for Korean A-Bomb victims.
