We are pleased to announce the publication of the proceedings from the 2nd International Forum of the International People's Tribunal on the Atomic Bombings, which took place on June 8, 2024, at the International Conference Center in Hiroshima, Japan.

The forum addressed the following three key topics:

  • Topic 1: The Historical Meaning of the United States Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki from the Perspective of Korean Atomic Bomb Victims

  • Topic 2: The Illegality of the Use of Nuclear Weapons under International Law – Particularly IHL – after the United States Atomic Bombings of 1945

  • Topic 3: The Illegality and Incompatibility of (Extended) Deterrence with Peace in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia: Ways to Overcome It

International legal scholars, lawyers, and anti-nuclear and disarmament researchers from Korea, Europe, the United States, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand participated as presenters and discussants. All presentations and discussion papers have been translated into Korean, English, and Japanese.
